Tuesday's HS roundup: Portsmouth boys soccer blanks Merrimack

MERRIMACK - Charlie Horgan and James Dedeus each scored a first-half goal as the Portsmouth High School boys soccer team beat Merrimack, 2-0, on Tuesday in a Division I contest.

Portsmouth is now 4-1-2 on the season.

Keeper Nico Cunha earned the Clippers' fourth shutout of the season.

Frank Coviello and Gar Hindle both played for Portsmouth, which hosts Concord on Friday.

BOYS SOCCER

Winnacunnet 5

Dover 0

HAMPTON - Tim Kollmorgen's two goals led a balanced Winnacunnet (5-3) scoring attack in this Division I win.

Adyn O’Riordan, Dylan Haugh, Owen Janetos all scored for the Warriors.

Willem Belanger had two assists for the Warriors, while Andrew Alaniz, Zane Lepere, and Mike Smith all had one.

Senior Tanyon Ziolkowski had nine saves, recording his second straight shutout.

KITTERY, Maine - Dylan Santamaria, assisted by Jack Peyroni, and Quinn Alessi, assisted by Santamaria, each scored a goal for Class C Traip in its win over Class B York.

Traip goalie Jack Downs had eight saves.

SOMERSWORTH - Owen Dovholuk, assisted by Alex Brown, scored the lone goal in this Division IV game.

Somersworth goalie Nahum Yoder had nine saves.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Wyatt Yager had three goals, and Ryan Pote and Dougie Starkey both scored two for the Hawks in this Class A South win.

Declan Fitzgerald and Milo Closson also scored for Marshwood. Jam Melino had two assists, and Fitzgerald, Pote, Owen Boyer, Yager, Rowan Carter, and Closson all had one.

Marshwood goalies Andrew Perry and Andrew Layton each had one save.

PITTSFIELD - Maggie Moore had three goals and two assists as Newmarket improved to 7-0 with this Division IV win.

Emma Weick added two goals for the Mules, while Hayden Joe had one. Teammate Jillian Long had two assists, while Abby Bentley and Olivia Blackadar both had one.

PORTSMOUTH - Annie Parker, Sylvia Guarracino, Ailish Honda and Avery Cole all had a goal for the Clippers in this Division I win.

Portsmouth goalie Haley Coombs had five saves behind the defensive play of Bella Slover, Sally Collins and Maggie Parker.

EXETER - The Blue Hawks improved to 7-0 with this Division I win. Charlie Paton, Callie Neils and Emma Smith all scored for Exeter.

DOVER - Senior Abby Rayder had four saves for the Saints in this Division III tie.

DOVER - Jordan Hurrell and Hayden Adams scored for Winnacunnet in this Division I clash.

Abby Wilber assisted on both Winnacunnet goals, while teammate Amber Morgado had seven saves.

Julia Rowley, on an assist from Molly Goodridge, scored for Dover.

KINGSTON - Mia Edwards' hat trick and one assist lifted Portsmouth (8-0) to this Division II win.

Charlotte Marston added two goals for the Clippers, while Sam Ruel had one. Portsmouth's Sydney Moreau had two assists, and Kate Deans had one.

Portsmouth goalie Samara Buck had four saves. Defensively, Alex Sirles and Maggie Conklin shined.

YORK, Maine - Abby Dickson's three goals led York (6-0) to a Class B South win.

Emma Joyce, Bella Santini, Olivia Coite, Abigail Armlin and Hadley Cucco all scored a goal for the Wildcats.

GOLF

Dover wins three-team match

SALEM - Sophomore Carys Fennessy shot a medalist round of 36 and Dover had a team score of 201 for the win at Campbell's Scottish Highlands.

Pinkerton (203) and Salem (211) placed second and third, respectively.

Jon Dumais and Carter Bell both shot a 39 for Dover, while Catie Moe had a 43 and

Gavin Bernard had a 44.

Warriors earn four-team win

DOVER - Sophomore Jimmy Schouller carded a 1-over par 36, leading Winnacunnet to a Division II, four-team win at Cocheco Country Club.

Winnacunnet had a team score of 195. St. Thomas Aquinas (202), Hollis-Brookline (204) and Kennett (231) placed second through fourth, respectively.

June Doerr and Chris Berry both shot a 37 for the Warriors, Noah Garofalo had a 42, and Arjay Sidney rounded out the scoring with a 43.

For St. Thomas Aquinas, Will Mollica shot a 4-over par 39, while Cam Cunio and Connor Gray both shot a 40, Rolly Edgerly had a 41, and Lindsay Butkus and Carlos Guenard each had a 42.

Clippers place second in three-teamer

PORTSMOUTH - Jackson Barrnes shot a 2-over par 38 for the Clippers at Portsmouth Country Club.

Oyster River won with a team score of 200, while Portsmouth (205), and Trinity (210) placed second and third, respectively.

Freshman Turner Leduc had a 40 for the Clippers, Boden Driscoll had a 41, and Shea Harrison and Cal Rothstein both had a 43.

ROCHESTER - Claudia Spaulding and Michael Murphy both had two goals for Winnacunnet, and Ryder Lee, Alec Cirulli, Cami Marrow and Mason Anzalone all had one.
