MARLINGTON 51, TUSKY VALLEY 28 The host Dukes outscored the Trojans 37-9 in the second and third quarters to take control of a matchup featuring one-loss teams entering Saturday. Maria Warner's 16 points and five steals led Marlington (11-1), which forced 29 turnovers by Tusky Valley (9-2). Elizabeth Mason totaled 13 points and four assists, while Lexi Miller added 11 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GLENOAK 45, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 33 Ja'Corey Lipkins and Reese Zerger scored 12 points apiece as the Golden Eagles snapped a two-game skid with a win at Central on Saturday night. GlenOak's season-low in points was good enough to improve to 10-2. DaMonte' DeGraffenried scored 14 points and Dylan Rouse added 13 for the Crusaders (5-3), who have dropped three straight after a 5-0 start to the season.

CARROLLTON 49, CLAYMONT 46 The Warriors earned their eight straight victory, winning on the road despite shooting just 29% from the floor. Jaxon Rinkes scored 18 points, including a bucket with 40 seconds left to put Carrollton (10-2) up a point.

SANDY VALLEY 68, COLUMBIANA 51 The host Cardinals exploded for 46 second-half points as they rallied for their 10th win of the season. Dantae Faiello scored a game-high 26 points for Sandy Valley (10-2), while Jordan Wigfield added 13 points and Nick Petro 12 points and four steals. Maddox Brown led Columbiana (7-4) with 17 points. Seth Struharik added 10.

JACKSON 87, PERRY 62 Thirteen Polar Bears got in the scoring column Friday as Jackson routed visiting Perry and moved into sole possession of first place in the Federal League. James Bossart led Jackson (7-3, 4-1) with 19 points and eight rebounds, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range. The Polar Bears shot 11-of-23 from the arc as a team. Owen Woolbert added 12 points, Anthony Fuline 11 and Mitch Finefrock 10 for Jackson, which began the night tied for first with McKinley and GlenOak. Zander Sabin led Perry (2-7, 0-5) with 22 points, seven assists and three steals. Joel Brown scored 13 points, while Luke Wolf and Zyiad Perry added 10 each for the Panthers.

LAKE 59, GLENOAK 49 Chance Casenhiser scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Blue Streaks to a road win in the Federal League. Caleb Collins added 13 points and Josh Coffield 10 for Lake (6-5, 4-2), which moves into sole possession of second place in the crowded league standings. Reese Zerger scored 15 points and Jalen McElroy added 12 for GlenOak (9-2, 3-2), which has dropped two straight games after a 9-0 start.

HOOVER 50, MASSILLON 41 The Vikings used a strong start to end their two-game losing streak with a win at home in a nonleague game. Wesley Collins led the way with 17 points for Hoover, while Hunter Ross scored 15. For the Tigers, it's their second straight loss in a game they trailed by one possession late. The Vikings outscored the Tigers 20-7 in the first quarter on their way to a 31-15 halftime lead. Massillon's Elijah Farrington, who finished the night with 12 points, was held to three points in the first half. Turnovers were an issue for Massillon, as Hoover stayed aggressive on defense. The Tigers made a strong comeback in the third quarter, outscoring the Vikings 18-5. The game was tied at 39 at one point, but the Tigers' foul troubles and missed open shots caught up to them. Hoover nailed some clutch free throws to clinch the victory. Hoover was 13-of-16 at the line. Both teams are 4-5 this season.

Patibandla, a Wisconsin recruit, scored 21 points in the first half as Jackson (7-4, 4-2) roared to a 40-17 lead at the break. Lauren Pallotta, a Dayton recruit, added 20 points for Jackson. Marlington (10-1, 6-0) held Carrollton to 4-of-31 shooting from the floor and forced 27 turnovers. Maria Warner and Elizabeth Mason each scored 11 points for the Dukes, with Warner adding six steals and five assists. Lexi Miller scored 10 points for Marlington, which beat Carrollton (7-3, 3-3) by a combined score of 116-23 in their two matchups this season.

CANTON CENTRAL CATHOLIC 69, MALVERN 56 Led by senior Kristen Belden's 19 points, the Crusaders won for the sixth time in their last seven games, beating visiting Malvern.
