Tuesday's Top Prep Performers: Oxnard's Yumul sets county record with 11 3-pointers

GIRLS BASKETBALL

  • Senior guard Kristan Yumul hit 11 3-pointers to set the Ventura County record for 3-pointers in a game and finished with 37 points, six assists and five rebounds to lead Oxnard (16-7, 7-3) to a 90-37 win over Rio Mesa in a Channel League game. Mika Jarrett had 28 points and five assists, Azalea Kubic had 19 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds, and Sienna Angell added six points as the Yellowjackets tied a CIF-Southern Section girls basketball record with 20 3-pointers in game, matching Lake Elsinore, according to Cal-Hi Sports. The 20 treys tied for fifth all-time in state history, according to Cal-Hi Sports. The state record is 27. Yumul's 11 3-pointers tied for 10th all-time on the CIF-SS list. She broke the county record of 10, set by Molly Carson of Moorpark in the 2007-08 season and tied by Vanessa Smart of Hueneme in the 2018-19 season.

  • Skyler Knight had 16 points and three rebounds, Sarah Beckman finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, Kailee Staniland had nine points and four assists, Emily Rea had six points and two assists, Jessie Sebek had four points and four rebounds, and Mikayla Estrada added four points and two steals to lead Ventura (16-8, 8-3) to a 50-23 win over Santa Barbara as the Cougars remained tied for first place in the Channel League with rival Buena.

  • Skye Thomas had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Riannah Lopez had 10 points and three steals, and Karisma Lewis finished with 12 rebounds and two assists to lead Buena (13-8, 8-3) to a 42-35 win over San Marcos as the Bulldogs remained tied for first place in the Channel League with rival Ventura.

  • Mimi Moon finished with 28 points, six assists, five rebounds and two blocks, Mikayla Oliver had 15 points, five rebounds and two steals, and Haven Ramirez had nine points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and three steals to lead Pacifica (14-7, 7-3) to a 67-55 win over Dos Pueblos in a Channel League game.

  • Talia Behrens scored 19 points, Bella Rico had 13 points, Milan Garcia had seven points, and Kalea Maielua added five points to lead St. Bonaventure to a 46-30 win over Santa Clara in a Tri-Valley League game.

  • Alyssa Garcia scored 17 points and Miahnna Galvan had 10 points and six assists to lead first-place Santa Paula (11-8, 8-0) to a 36-30 win over Malibu in a Citrus Coast League game.

  • Nordhoff (12-8, 7-2) defeated Fillmore 40-35 in a Citrus Coast League game. Nataly Vigil finished with 11 points, six rebounds, three steals and three blocks, Isabella Ramirez had seven points, four rebounds and three steals, Analise Luna had five points and six rebounds, and Marissa Lugo and Aryanne Munoz each had five points for the Flashes (3-13, 1-7).

  • Channel Islands (5-9, 4-5) defeated Hueneme 58-22 in a Citrus Coast League game.

  • Rachel Patrykus finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks and Rosa Verela had eight points and three assists for Villanova Prep in its 47-28 loss to Cate in a Frontier League game.

GIRLS SOCCER

  • Tat Padilla had a goal and an assist, Abby Wood scored a goal, and Kim Chavarria had an assist to lead Buena (11-4-0, 8-3-0) to a 2-0 win over San Marcos in a Channel League match.

  • Kamyla Navarro finished with a goal and two assists, Viviana Marmolejo, Micaela Cerveriak and Adalynne Fernández scored goals, and Samantha Quinonez had an assist to lead Rio Mesa (8-8-4, 3-5-3) to a 4-0 win over Santa Barbara in a Channel League match.

  • Anahi Nieto had a goal and an assist, Jessica Aguilar scored a goal, and Natalia Quezada had an assist to lead Pacifica (8-3-2, 6-3-2) to a 2-1 victory over Ventura in a Channel League match. Kaitlyn Wright scored the goal for the Cougars (15-4-1, 8-2-1).

  • Sienna Pimentel scored the game's lone goal to lift Oxnard (8-8-1, 7-3-1) to a 1-0 win over Dos Pueblos in a Channel League match.

  • Nelissa Pulido, Janessah Gonzalez and Alondra Ordaz scored goals to help Santa Clara (9-1-2, 5-1-2) earn a 3-3 draw at Bishop Diego in a Tri-Valley League match.

  • Emily Basua had a goal and an assist, Mia Romero scored a goal, and freshman Lainey Lajoie earned the win in net to lead St. Bonaventure to a 2-1 victory over Grace Brethren in a Tri-Valley League match.

  • Lily Shadden scored the lone goal off an assist by Eva Goncalves to lift Foothill Tech to a 1-0 win over Thacher in a Tri-Valley League match.

  • Munirah Balogun scored the tying goal with 10 seconds left to help Villanova Prep earn a 3-3 draw with Dunn in a Frontier League match.

BOYS SOCCER

  • Angel Ortiz had a goal and an assist, Andy Martinez scored a goal, and Michael Sauceda had an assist to lead Pacifica (13-4-1, 8-3-0) to a 2-0 win over Ventura in a Channel League match.

  • Pabel Ayala scored a goal off an assist from Chris Carbajal to help Oxnard (16-2-6, 9-1-1) earn a 1-1 draw with Dos Pueblos in a Channel League match.

  • Santa Barbara defeated Rio Mesa 2-1 in a Channel League match. Matthew Romero scored the lone goal for the Spartans in second-half stoppage time.

  • Santa Marcos defeated Buena 2-1 in a Channel League match. Angel Lopez scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs.

  • Jake Barrett and Tyler Larson scored goals and Matt Gross had an assist as Grace Brethren (5-2-1, 4-0-1) took over sole possession of first place in the Frontier League with a 2-0 win at Laguna Blanca.

  • Santa Clara (1-10-0, 1-5-0) defeated Villanova Prep 7-4 in a Frontier League match. Santi Saucedo scored two goals for the Wildcats (0-8-0, 0-5-0).

  • Merric Bayless scored two goals, including a penalty kick, and had an assist, Matheus Gamble had two goals and an assist, and Powell Saucedo had an assist to lead Foothill Tech (7-6-1, 5-1-0) to a 4-2 win over Cate in a Tri-Valley League match.

BOYS WRESTLING

  • Will Ramos (138 pounds) and Robert Svitek (220) each won by pin as Thousand Oaks (12-6, 5-0) defeated Newbury Park 42-22 to clinch its third straight Marmonte League championship.

  • Camarillo defeated Valencia 45-6 to clinch the Coastal Canyon League championship.

GIRLS WATER POLO

  • Agoura defeated Newbury Park 15-3 in a Marmonte League game.

  • Lindsey Ramirez finished with five goals, two assists, two steals and won three sprints, Izabel Magana scored five goals, Jayden Ramirez had four assists and two steals, Camilla Cortez had three steals, and Charlotte Powell had 10 blocks to lead Santa Paula (13-10) to an 11-7 win over Channel Islands in a Citrus Coast League game.

  • Hannah Tully-Giles and Hannah Tinker each had two goals and Ida Tully-Giles made 15 saves and scored a goal to lead Villanova Prep to a 6-3 win over Malibu in a Tri-Valley League game.
