One of the singular—and frankly, only—joys of this quarantine experience for me has been having a built-in excuse to stay in bed. From de facto snack zone to the place I'm most keen to nosedive straight into after a long day at work, my mattress serves many functions besides sleeping. As such, I'm firmly of the opinion that everyone deserves to have a great one, especially when there's a chance to save money on it, too.

From now through Monday, August 10, you can save 15% on our favorite affordable mattress in a box, Tuft & Needle's Original Mattress, along with everything else on the site during the brand's After-Party Sale. This explosive savings bonanza, which is in honor of the brand's 8th anniversary, is your chance to save on mattresses, bedding and more and get your dream flop-spot in the process.
Never heard of Tuft & Needle before? That's OK, we hadn't either until we tried the brand's Original mattress, and ever since, we've been hooked. Ordinarily priced from $350 to $750, you can save 15% during this event to get it from $297.50 to $637.50, depending on your bed size. The King-sized model, for instance, which usually retails for $750, drops to just under $650 thanks to this sale, so you're saving $112.50.
As we tested the Original mattress, we really dug the construction. It's built with a soft, 3-inch layer of memory foam that's infused with cooling gel and graphite, and beneath that, a second layer of foam; only this one is 7-inches thick and incredibly firm. This double scoop of moldable material left us feeling great in the morning. For those searching for a firm-but-supportive mattress on a budget, this one works fabulously (and doesn't feel like a total rock, either).
In fact, we enjoyed it so much, we consider it the best affordable mattress in a box out right now. In terms of comfort and cost, we ranked the Tuft & Needle Original well above other competitor picks, such as the Helix Midnight, the legendary Zinus Green Tea mattress and even the Purple Mattress.
If it's a softer mattress you crave—I know I usually do—then Tuft & Needle's Mint mattress is the one to snag while this sale lasts. This model is typically priced from $585 to $1,145, but during this 15% off sale, you can get one for as low as $505.75. If you've got a bigger bed, you could get the Queen size mattress for under $850 (so you're saving $149.25 as it usually retails for $995) or a King for under $1,000, which is a $171.75 drop from its typical $1,145 cost.
The Mint mattress comes with three layers of foam, so you're getting the same two you'd get in the Original, plus an added 4-inch layer of foam around the bottom for extra support. Additionally, this bedding is made with ceramic gel beads, which may help deliver relief to sore spots, like the hips and shoulders.
Since we spend about a third of our lives sleeping, it pays to invest in a bed that you'll actually enjoy. With Tuft & Needle, you're getting a mattress in a box that'll ship right to your door and it's easy to return it if you don't like it—the company has a 100-night trial policy and will coordinate pickup for returns. Most of all, you'll be able to save some cash in the process, so you won't be losing any sleep over how much your comfy new sleep space cost you in the end.
