Tulare County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an inmate who died at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility last week.

Correctional deputies found 29-year-old Kelsi Fahrni “unresponsive in her cell” at around 2:40 p.m. Friday, where deputies say she was alone.

Deputies and medical staff administered first-aid and emergency personnel were called. Paramedics took over "life-saving measures;" however, Fahrni died, deputies said.

Tulare County detectives took over the investigation. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death, sheriff officials said.

Fahrni's death is the second inmate death in a month.

On July 25, detectives responded to the South County Detention Jail after an inmate was found unconscious in one of the intake holding areas. He was transported to a local area hospital, where he died.
