Tulare Western's Jack Anker earns back-to-back EYL MVP honors

For the second year in a row, Tulare Western High School's Jack Anker was the top baseball player in the East Yosemite League.

Anker was voted by the league's respective coaches as the EYL most valuable player for the 2022 season. He was also named the league MVP last season after a standout junior year.

A right-handed pitcher and first baseman, Anker helped direct Tulare Western to a piece of the 2022 EYL championship with a 12-3 record. The Mustangs shared the EYL title this year with Monache.

Anker played an instrumental role for a Tulare Western squad that allowed just 25 runs in 15 EYL games.

During league competition, Anker fired 65 strikeouts in 36⅓ innings and finished with a 4-1 record and 1.35 ERA. At the plate, he hit .308, scored 13 runs and knocked in another four runs.

Anker has already signed to play college baseball at Fresno State.

Porterville's Jimmy Martinez was selected as the EYL pitcher of the year.

Kingsburg sweeps top CSL baseball honors

Kingsburg swept the top Central Sequoia League baseball postseason awards for the 2022 campaign.

Kingsburg's Houston Hirschkorn was named by the league's respective coaches as the CSL's MVP for the 2022 season, and his teammate, Ethan Winslow, garnered the CSL's pitcher of the year honors.

Also for Kingsburg, Garret Perkins was selected as the CSL pitcher of the year.

Those three helped lead the Vikings to an outright CSL championship with a 10-2 record.
