From tulips to cherries to asparagus: Michigan is one of the most 'festival obsessed’ states in the country

A study based on Google search trends has named Michigan one of the most festival obsessed states in the country.

The study, conducted by fashion retailer Boohoo, analyzed Google search trends to see which states had residents seeking out festival information in large numbers. As it turns out, Michiganders were among the most frequent.

Michigan ranked tenth in the country in the overall scoring metric, behind Wisconsin, Ohio, Louisiana, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Vermont. States received a score from 0 to 100 for nine search terms, with a higher number meaning more search frequency.

Terms measured included:

  • "music festivals"

  • "festivals 2023"

  • "festival"

  • "festivals"

  • "fall festival"

  • "summer festival"

  • "festivals near me"

  • "festival near me"

  • "festival outfits"

Michigan had the fourth most searches for “summer festivals,” the eighth most for “festival,” the ninth most for “music festivals” and was tenth for “festival near me.”
