Tunisian recycles furniture for local schools

With the help of three workers, 34-year-old Karim Arafa is recycling worn out tables, chairs and trash cans, turning them into colorful and elaborate pieces of furniture that are later donated to public schools and hospitals.

He believes collecting and recycling the discarded pieces are essential to reducing the environmental impact that unwanted furniture causes.

It all started when he visited a school as part of a volunteering activity and was astonished with the amount of discarded material left out in the school yard.

He opened his workshop in 2018 and donates all of his work to public schools and hospitals in need.
