BUCYRUS — There seems to be no stopping the Galion girls in the Crawford County Bowling Tournament.

The Tigers won their third consecutive title Saturday behind a dominant performance from their top two bowlers. Meanwhile, Wynford upset rival Bucyrus in the Baker games to prevent another three-peat and win their first county boys title.

This one was never really in question.

After a thrilling set of Baker games last year to claim the crown, Galion came out strong with games of 847 — 219 higher than anyone else — 757 and 811 for a 2,415 pin total. That gave the Tigers a 468-pin advantage over second-place Wynford.

Zoe Fray and Abby Crager were on fire in the first round, bowling games of 202-208-192—602 and 233-123-181—537, respectively — the only girls bowlers to roll series above 500. Kadence Fairchild (446) and Missi Vonhoupe (431) were fourth and fifth as individuals, and Neavia Cansler's 399 made up the team total.

Led by third-highest individual Miya Kinn (467), Wynford was second with 1,947 after the first round. Kendall Naufzinger (411), Savannah Bender (408), Cheyenne Dunford (337) and a combination of Samantha Dornbirer (99) and Brooklin Brown (225) all contributed.

In the best-of-three Baker games championship, Galion opened with a 154 to Wynford's 122, then clinched the title with a 164-109 win in second Baker game for the three-peat.

Bucyrus (2,385) was third behind Maddison McDaniel (421), Rylee Powers (414), Katie Kuhn (394), Marissa Eulett (379) and Kailey Horsley (223).

Buckeye Central (2,232) fourth as the lone school competing as a club team behind Jayleen Spaulding (411), Isis Wagner (404), Faye Betts (281), Brookyln Kern (229) and Carleen Fredritz (191).

Wynford boys stage comeback in championship

With a 16-pin advantage over rival Wynford after the first round, it looked as if Bucyrus was well on its way to yet another county title.

Bucyrus bowled games of 884, 911 and 960 for a 2,755. Gabe Higginbotham (634) led the way with the second-highest individual score of the day, followed by Tyson McDaniel (576), Lucas Hill (539), Braxton Lewis (508), Seth Price (319) and Hyden Rittenberry (179).

That score was bested by the Royals' 2,862 behind gold medalist Tyler Bindner's 734. Kobie Naufzinger's 610 was third best for the day, with Brian Schifer (537), Sebastian Prince (456), Robert Schifer (347) and Isaiah Bender (187) rounding out the scoring.

Bucyrus rolled games of 168, 202, 187 and 189 for a 749 in the Baker games to jump Wynford (623) for first. Both teams advanced to the best-of-three championship Baker series with Bucyrus boasting a 3,501 and Wynford a 3,485.

Scores were wiped clean and Wynford bested Bucyrus 243-211 in the first game and then dominated the second 214-148 for the program's first county title.

Crestline (3,268) finished third behind Hunter Farrel (609), who was fourth overall, and Nick Huber (599), who was fifth. Also contributing were Hunter Gibbons (543), Blake Fuiler (423) and Luke Ouial (295).

Galion (2,824) was fourth behind Nathan Barre (543), Brady Dalenburg (520), AJ Clark (409), Dravin Morgan (400) and Ethan Click (399).

Travis Zornes (364), Mason Clay (296), Caden Young (288), Coy Fredritz (276) and Lucas Cianflone (225) led Buckeye Central (1,890) to a fifth-place finish.
