Turkish Grand Prix TV channel: How to watch the F1 qualifying on TV today in the UK

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen go head-to-head in Formula 1’s title battle this afternoon in qualifying for the Turkish Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver leads his Dutch challenger by just two points in the Drivers’ Championship as things stand, but will take a ten-place grid penalty at Istanbul Park after changing a power unit component.

That means the seven-time world champions must do everything he can in qualifying to limit the damage, in order to give himself the best chance at scoring strong points from a weak starting position, just as Verstappen did in Russia a fortnight ago.

The likes of McLaren’s Lando Norris and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will also be looking to challenge for a spot on the first couple of rows of the grid.

Qualifying will start at 1pm BST on Saturday 9 October.

What happened last time out?

Lewis Hamilton took victory at a rain-soaked Sochi, overtaking leader Lando Norris late on.

Max Verstappen started at the back but managed to come home in second-place in the rain, while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz rounded-out the podium.

What are the standings?

Verstappen currently trails Hamilton in the Drivers’ Championship by just two points, while Mercedes lead the Constructors’ Championship by 33 points to Red Bull.

Prediction

Hamilton was fastest in both of Friday’s qualifying sessions, and could well limit the damage caused by his engine penalty by qualifying fastest here. Verstappen will run him very close, and Norris could well be the nearest man to the two title challengers in third.
