Turkish ports allow docking of Russian ships with stolen Ukrainian grain – Skhemy

The investigators found that such trips take place regularly, with the stolen Ukrainian grain being loaded onto ships in Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Crimea. The ships’ transponders are turned off, but their movements can still be tracked by satellite.

One of the ships, the Mikhail Nenashev, sails under the Russian flag. Skhemy journalists found evidence that the ship had made at least three trips to transport grain to the Turkish ports of Iskenderun and Derince.
The second ship that the journalists found carrying stolen Ukrainian grain was the Syrian-flagged vessel Finikia.

In addition to satellite evidence, the journalists believe that the Mikhail Nenashev and Finikia were loaded with grain at the Avlita terminal in Sevastopol, Crimea, before heading to Turkey.
At the same time, the origin of the grain is indicated as “Crimea, Russia” in the cargo documentation.
