As the ball fell above New York Square on New Year's Eve, I thought of how fitting a representation for the Biden administration’s 2022 year. No one has dropped the ball more frequently than Joe Biden, and then fumbled, stumbled and mumbled his way from one self-inflicted crisis after another.

At the Democratic presidential convention, Joe Biden said, “Too much anger, too much fear, too much division. Here and now, I give you my word: If you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw on the best of us, not the worst. I will be an ally of light, not darkness. It is time for us, for We, the people, to come together.” At his inauguration, Joe Biden stated, “And together, we shall write an American story of hope, not fear; of unity, not division: of light not darkness. An American story of decency and dignity; of love and of healing; of greatness and of goodness.”

This is not the Joe Biden we got. He and his administration made a list of things to do; lower the acrimony between parties, get a handle on the COVID pandemic, bring the nation together and bring the economy back to pre-pandemic levels. Instead, he increased the animosity between parties, attacked the fossil fuel industry and made “equity” the mainstay of his social justice programs. Instead of persuasion and compassion, he used intimidation. We should have realized what to expect from his presidency when he started indiscriminately wielding his executive powers on his first day in office.

In my last letter published by The Times on Jan. 12 of last year, I reiterated my previous letters on how the Democrats have rammed their agenda items through congress disregarding cost and any long-term effect on the citizens of the United States. Worse than that was the reinstatement of programs canceled by the previous administration such as the Iran Nuclear agreement and the Paris Climate Accord. I also predicted the Russian invasion of Ukraine predicated on the shambles of a withdrawal plan from Afghanistan put in place by Biden against military advice.

Biden keeps telling us he wants to be a historic president in the mold of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. His aim is to move this country into one where no one uses fossil fuels and equality is paramount. Unfortunately, he is taking us there with no regard for the collateral damage he is causing. Let us look at some of the wreckage he has caused to date.

He is destroying the nation’s financial base by running up the debt. In the past two years; using the pandemic as a reason, bills amounting to $5 trillion have been passed. That brings the national debt to $30 trillion. That is a 3 with 13 zeros behind it. On top of that, Congress just passed another $1.5 trillion “Inflation Reduction” spending bill that includes billions of dollars on climate change and green programs. This is despite the fact tens of billions of COVID money from previous bills hasn’t been needed. What this unneeded spending has done is devalue the nation’s currency driving inflation to heights not seen for the past 40 years. Who has been hit the hardest?

The man or woman wage earner now is struggling to buy gas and groceries and pay home heating bills.

While inflation has soared, the Biden administration is stymying U.S. energy production and future development by denying oil and gas exploration permits. Congress will not pass any legislation to alleviate this problem. His pie-in-the-sky plan to have this country using all-electric vehicles by 2030 has no plan on how to reach that goal. The auto industry should be working on hybrid cars as an intermediate plan instead of electric vehicles. The recent discovery of fusion as a source of electricity is probably going to be the final solution; however, it is decades away. Perhaps billions of federal dollars should have been invested in this research rather than part-time electricity from windmills and solar panels. Currently, 10% of the cars in the world are electric and most of them are in China and Europe. Chinese electric plants are by and large fueled by coal.

By not enforcing illegal immigration, untold numbers of potential criminals, terrorists, welfare recipients and drug dealers have infiltrated with the millions of true asylum-seeking border crossers. I wonder if Biden knew what a slap in the face he received from the Mexican president when he was thanked for not continuing to build the wall started by the previous administration during his recent visit.

He has overseen the dumbing down and indoctrination of our school children and college students with anti-American propaganda. He has allowed teachers' unions and left-wing activists to dictate school and college curricula with gender identity and critical race theory rather than teaching information that equips students with problem-solving skills and the values on which this great nation was founded.

Biden has put a high priority on decriminalizing crime. Emptying prisons, letting minor crimes go unpunished and ending bail has made our cities like scenes from Batman movies. His policies favor criminals over victims as these law breakers know they will be back on the streets within a day of their arrest.

His plan to hire 87,000 IRS agents to audit billionaires is another of his faulty plans based on lies. There are only about 64,000 households in the country that make $5 million or more per year. This would take these 87,000 IRS auditors about one work week and net about $18 billion, far short of the $70 billion Biden claims to recoup. The other 51 weeks per year, these agents with guns will be coming after you and me looking for your underreported tips, your crypto sales and your side jobs to make up the difference.

Many have compared Joe Biden’s foul-ups to Jimmy Carter’s presidency. Jimmy Carter muddled through several crises such as the Iran hostage situation, but he did not create his own crisis as Joe Biden has done in the past two years emphasized in the paragraphs above.

To illustrate the point that Biden must be out of touch with reality on some of his commitments, here are some examples:

At the recent COP27 climate conference, he and his climate tsar, John Kerry, promised to pay reparations to poor countries for climate damage the US has done due to our industrial capabilities. Is he going to pay for this in lieu of foreign aid or in addition?

His administration recently decided to eliminate home gas ranges. Is this his answer to high food prices?

He has decided Monkeypox is offensive to people of color and hereafter will be called Mpox. Is this time well spent?

His latest debacle regarding classified documents will show the true depth of his incompetence.

We, the citizens of the United States, must make a major commitment to remove as much power from the federal government especially the Democratic party during the next two years.

Lastly, Biden said he wanted to model his term in office after FDR. Better he should follow LBJ’s famous quote after his first full term in office ―“If nominated for re-election, I will not run. If elected I will not serve”.
