Jul. 21—HENDERSON — Turning Point Community Development Corp. is hosting a school supply drive this week until Friday. All donations will be going towards supporting the annual backpack and supply giveaway during Turning Point CDCs community day Aug. 7.
The nonprofit is accepting any new school supplies such as binders, pencils, pens, notebooks, paper and more. All supplies donated must be unopened. Donations can be dropped off at Oasis of Hope Ministries, 2495 U.S. 158 between 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
"We're just hoping to get as many supplies as we can to help with the backpack drive at community day," said Kate Delahanty, Turning Point's community outreach coordinator. "We want to prepare kids as much as possible by supplying them with as much as we can."
Turning Point CDC is a local nonprofit. Its mission is to serve as a catalyst for the continued development, transformation and empowerment of communities in Vance, Granville, Warren and Franklin counties of North Carolina.
It pursues this by providing access to educational opportunities, health and wellness programs, social enrichment and community engagement.
