Turnout on first day of early voting breaking records in Maryland

In-person early voting began Monday in Maryland and runs through Nov. 2, the day before Election Day. Eligible voters can cast their ballots at any authorized early voting center in the jurisdiction where they live. Long lines were reported Monday at some vote centers, including in Owings Mills and Severna Park. While voter turnout is the driving force behind some of the lines, coronavirus protocols are padding wait times while pushing the bulk of the waiting outdoors with social distancing stretching lines around the block.
