Turnpike Troubadours concert tops Tuscaloosa's list of weekend events

The first weekend in November in Tuscaloosa will feature the final show of the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater's 2022 season and some unique shopping opportunities for those already thinking about buying Christmas gifts.

So while the Crimson Tide football team is on the road for a battle Saturday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tuscaloosa will still be busy.

Here's a look at five things to do this weekend, all of which you can do and still get home in plenty of time to watch the game:

Turnpike Troubadours

Turnpike TroubadoursMuscadine Bloodline, and Them Dirty Roses will play at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater at 7 p.m. Friday.

Tickets cost $89.50 for the general admission pit, with reserved seats at $89.50, $75, $65, and $45, and are available at—www.ticketmaster.com, or at the Amphitheater box office, 2710 Jack Warner Parkway.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

The Turnpike Troubadours, a country band formed in 2007 in Oklahoma, are amidst a reunion tour after a three-year hiatus. Muscadine Bloodline and Them Dirty Roses are both Alabama-based bands.

Buy for Rise

Buy for Rise, a charity sale featuring deep discounts on merchandise from local retailers will be held Friday and Saturday at the the University of Alabama's Rise Center, 600 Johnny Stallings Drive

A preview party will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday where attendees will have an opportunity to purchase items at significant discounts — 75% off the lowest marked prices.

Food and drinks will be available. Tickets will be available for $100 for a golden ticket with a 4:30 p.m. entrance and $10 for a general admission ticket with a 5 p.m. entrance. Tickets can be purchased at the Rise Center.

Admission to the general sale from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday is free and items are discounted by 90%.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Rise Center, a preschool program for children with disabilities and their typically developing peers.

Christmas Open House

The Kentuck Gallery Shop will host a Christmas Open House from 9:30-4 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday, featuring work by local artists on sale at 10% off. The open house will also feature hot cider, make-and-take art activities, sidewalk chalk, and more.

The Kentuck Gallery Shop is at 503 Main Ave. in downtown Northport.

Heroes and Hotrods

The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center on Friday will host “Heroes and Hotrods,” a free event that will feature live music, food trucks, games, and fun for the whole family.

In addition to the display of classic cars, veterans will be able to check their eligibility, enroll on the spot and learn about other resources available through the Tuscaloosa VA.

"Heroes and Hotrods" will be from 1-6 p.m. Friday in front of the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, 3701 Loop Road E. Guests are encouraged to park in lots 1 and 2 to allow for patient parking near the clinic buildings.

Farmers market

Home-grown fruits and vegetables along with one-of-a-kind merchandise will be available at the Tuscaloosa Farmers' Market at the Tuscaloosa Rivermarket on the banks of the Black Warrior River.

The market, operated by the city of Tuscaloosa, features more than 70 local farmers and artisans selling fresh produce and unique items.

The market will be open from 7 a.m. until noon Saturday at 1900 Jack Warner Parkway. The Tuscaloosa Farmers Market is open every Saturday year-round.
