EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge has successfully housed wild cats donated by Carole Baskin.

TCWR welcomed 33 wild cats to the new Freedom Field, a newly developed 14-acre expansion project.

“Freedom Field stands ready as the future and next chapter for Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge and for big cats in need, with additional habitat space built to care for future rescues,” said the news release.

The cats traveled from Tampa, Florida’s Big Car Rescue after Baskin reached out about relocating her animals after deciding to sell her Tampa property.

TCWR now has six tigers, 18 bobcats, two caracals, two savannah cats, and five African servals.

A public ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new expansion will take place April 27 at 9 a.m. A private ticketed event will take place afterward.
