Turpin Principal David Spencer leaving at end of school year for Loveland High School

Turpin High School's principal of eight years is leaving the district for Loveland City Schools, according to a Wednesday letter from Forest Hills Superintendent Larry Hook.

David Spencer will take over as Loveland High School principal for the 2023-24 school year, pending final approval from the Loveland board of education next week.

“I’m excited to be a part of Tiger Nation! I’m looking forward to supporting the students and staffand contributing to the many great things that lie ahead for Loveland High School,” Spencer said in a Thursday news release from Loveland City Schools.

"In his nearly two decades with FHSD, Mr. Spencer has supported the education and growth of thousands of students in our community," Hook wrote in the Wednesday note to Forest Hills families and staff. "Mr. Spencer has been a valuable part of Forest Hills School District and has had a positive impact that will be felt for many years to come."

Spencer served the Forest Hills School District for 19 years, initially as an assistant principal at Turpin High School. In 2015 he stepped in as principal and led the high school to a U.S. News and World Report top 10 ranking just last year.

Spencer will leave Turpin at the end of this school year, Wednesday's letter reads. Forest Hills is immediately beginning the search process for Turpin's next principal.

Loveland City Schools' board of education will meet Tuesday to approve Spencer's new role.
