Tuscaloosa Amphitheater 2023 season: What to know before you go

With the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater concert season opening Thursday, here's a guide to what you'll need to know to see the shows, along with a list of acts booked for 2023, which include Lauren Daigle, Hank Williams Jr., Old Crow Medicine Show, Morris Day and The Time, Barenaked Ladies, Five for Fighting, 3 Doors Down, Candlebox, Parker McCollum, Jason Aldean and more.

The amphitheater, opened in 2011, is at 2710 Jack Warner Parkway, downtown Tuscaloosa, adjacent to River District Park, at the western end of the city's Riverwalk. Capacity is about 8,410, depending on adjustable seating in box-holder areas and the orchestra pit, which may be standing room for certain shows. All other seats are fixed.

Contemporary Christian musician Lauren Daigle is scheduled to perform at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on Thursday night, with Andrew Ripp.

Free public parking is available at downtown Tuscaloosa's Intermodal Center, 601 23rd Ave., adjacent to Government Plaza. Free shuttles will run from the lot to the Amphitheater and back on show days, from one hour before gates open, until the last patrons have cleared the venue.

There's also free parking elsewhere throughout downtown Tuscaloosa, and a limited number of spaces at the train trestle parking lot, west of the venue, and the Bama Belle lot, just past Hotel Indigo, on the Black Warrior River.

Lots immediately east and west of the amphitheater have reserved spaces.

The Mercedes-Benz Club Parking lot, to the immediate west, is reserved, and requires parking credentials to enter.

The East Parking lot at Gate 1 is designated for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking only for vehicles with appropriate credentials. Accessible, wheelchair and companion seating are available inside the venue; check with the box office, or call 205-248-5280.

Phase II of the $72 million Jack Warner Parkway/Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. road work is still underway, expected to be completed in fall, so patrons should be aware of limited access along Jack Warner, traveling east of Greensboro Ave. to 21st Avenue.

Tickets for shows can be purchased at the Amphitheater box office, open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and for limited hours on event days, or through www.ticketmaster.com. Listed prices don't include all fees and taxes.

Morris Day and The Time will return to play Tuscaloosa Amphitheater May 28, as headliner of a show also including Zapp Band, Con Funk Shun and Atlantic Starr. The Time last played the venue in 2018, with Parliament-Funkadelic.

Shows go on rain or shine. Umbrellas are not allowed in, though parkas or rain jackets are admissable. Bad weather may cause an event to be postponed; weather information will be available on screens around the facility, and shared through the Amphitheater's social media.

Non-professional cameras, without removable lenses, may be allowed, unless an artist's rider prohibits.

Food and beverages will be available for sale inside; no outside food or drinks are permitted.

The city of Tuscaloosa's clear bag policy allows:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC, and do not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches

  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags
