Tuscaloosa Farmers Market named best farmers market in Alabama

The Tuscaloosa Farmers Market has earned the title of the Best Farmers Market in Alabama in the 2022 America’s Farmers Market Celebration Awards.
“It is an honor to see our farmers market receiving such high recognition,” said Alexis Clark, city venues operations manager said in a Tuesday news release. “We are grateful to everyone who voted for our market, but even more so to the patrons who regularly visit our weekly market to support our local farmers, artisans and vendors.”
The America’s Farmers Market Celebration is a national contest held annually by the American Farmland Trust and the Farmer’s Market Coalition. Each year between June and September, shoppers and supporters can vote online for their favorite market.
In addition to finishing first in Alabama in this year's voting, the Tuscaloosa Farmers Market also ranked No. 27 in the Southeast and No. 72 in the United States.
The Tuscaloosa Farmers Market is open every Saturday year-round from 7 a.m. to noon at the Tuscaloosa River Market, 1900 Jack Warner Parkway. The market, which is operated by the city of Tuscaloosa, is free and open to the public.
The market features more than 70 local farmers and artisans selling fresh produce and unique items. Recently, the market announced a schedule of fall musical performers.
This Saturday, the market's musical performer will be Evy Alley, followed by Charlie Wilson on Oct. 8, Mississippi Mason on Oct. 22, Steven Lane on Nov. 5 and the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra String Quartet on Nov. 19.
