Tuscarawas County organizations receives $30,000 in grants from Moomaw Foundation

COLUMBUS − The Dewey and Irene Moomaw Foundation recently awarded grants totaling more than $30,000 to organizations in Tuscarawas County.

Grant recipients in 2023 are:

  • Tuscarawas County University Foundation, $6,248 clinical training headwalls for the nursing education program at Kent State Tuscarawas.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters, $1,410 for laptops for new staff members.

  • Camp Tuscazoar, $2,500, for roof repairs on the ranger’s residence.

  • Dress-A-Child for School, $2,500, for gift cards for school clothing.

  • First United Church of Christ, Sugarcreek, $2,500, for roof repair on the Sanctuary.

  • Ohio Guidestone, $2,500, for furnishings at the new men’s residential treatment center.

  • Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community, $2,500, for furniture, refrigerator, and office equipment.

  • The Salvation Army, $2,500, for ongoing social services in Tuscarawas County.

  • Tuscarawas County Literacy Coalition, $1,000, to purchase books for the One Book, One Community program.

  • Tuscarawas County Public Library, $1,000, to repair and rebind some of the City Directories used for reference and research.

  • Twin City Parks and Waterways, Inc., $2,500, for the Panhandle Passage Park project.

  • Project Lead the Way, $500 each to Buckeye Career Center, Claymont City Schools, Dover City Schools, New Philadelphia Schools, Strasburg-Franklin Schools, and Tuscarawas Valley Schools, for technology and materials for science and engineering curriculum.

The foundation was created by the late Dewey H. Moomaw to provide funds to qualified organizations for charitable, religious, scientific, literary, and educational purposes.
