Car and motorcycle show is Friday

DOVER – The Downtown Dover Car and Bike Show will be Friday on West Third Street. Registration is 5 to 7 p.m. and is $10. Awards for the top 30 vehicles, the top three motorcycles and the best of show will be presented at 8:30 p.m. Choice awards will be given by the Dover administration and city council. There will be food, and Spikeman will play music. The event, hosted by Kustom Kemps of Ohio, will be held rain or shine.

Ohio Forestry Association to meet

DOVER − The local chapter of the Ohio Forestry Association will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Community Room of the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St. The featured speaker is Katie Gerber, ODNR service forester from District 9, who will talk about the WOW organization (Women Owning Woodlands).

Benefit for the Roxy Theatre on Friday

MINERVA − The Roxy Theatre, 114 N. Market St., will host the local band Hot Cargo playing classic country and classic rock music at 7 p.m. Friday.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the chamber office or at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Roxy. For more information, call 330-868-7979 or email minervachamber@gmail.com.

Ask a Curator event is Saturday

ZOAR – Historic Zoar Village will host Ask a Curator from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, in the Bimeler Museum. Attendees can bring family heirlooms and antique shop finds. Becky Preiss Odom and Marlise Schoeny, curators with the Ohio History Connection, will answer questions about these items and discuss artifacts in Zoar’s current “History in Pieces” quilt exhibit, which is open through October.

Fire department dinner is Sunday

SCIO − The Scio Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor an all-you-can-eat roast beef dinner from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday at 318 W. Main St. Cost is $15 for adults, $8 for 9 and younger. Proceeds benefit the Fire Department.

Dennison Railroad Festival photo contest winners named

DENNISON – Winners of the 2023 photography contest sponsored by the Dennison Rotary Club were announced recently. The photo contest was held in conjunction with the Dennison Railroad Festival and photos were displayed at the Dennison Branch of the Claymont Library during the festival.

Prizes consisted of award ribbons and cash awards for first-place winners.

Shredding event is Saturday

DOVER – The Tuscarawas County Literacy Coalition will host a document-shredding and destruction event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 5, in the parking lot of First Federal Community Bank.

A limit of four boxes of documents will be accepted per vehicle. E-waste also will be accepted, including laptops, keyboards, desktop printers, routes, modems, fax machines, personal computers (not including monitors), and hard drives. Televisions and monitors cannot be taken this year.

Donate school supplies

NEW PHILADELPHIA − The United Way of Tuscarawas County and HARCATUS Head Start will partner to Stuff the Bus during the Ohio Tax Free weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Walmart, 231 Bluebell Drive. Volunteers will be stationed at each entrance with a list of needed items along with collection boxes. The boxes will then be delivered to the school bus parked in the lot. Items collected will be distributed to Head Start classes throughout Tuscarawas County.

Collection boxes are also located at the individual Parkway Auto Group dealerships on Commercial Parkway in Dover, The Barnett Realtors and McInturf Realty in New Philadelphia, and local Unified Bank locations. Andreas Furniture, City of New Philadelphia, Kraton, and Novogradac will be holding employee collections.

Needed supplies include Pull-ups, crayons-regular/large, socks/underwear, tissues, glue and washable markers. Donations will also be accepted with checks payable to United Way of Tuscarawas County.

New member for MWCD Board

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Jennifer Ponchak from Morgan County was appointed to fill a vacancy on the five member Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District Board of Directors. Ponchak was appointed to a five-year term. She fills the seat previously held by Joanne Limbach.

Other members of the board include Robert S. Moorehead of Guernsey County, Gordon T. Maupin of Wayne County, Jim Gresh of Stark County, and Ronald E. Dziedzicki of Medina County.
