DOVER – The Reeves Museum, 325 E. Iron Ave., is accepting registrations for History Camp to be held from 9 to noon June 12 through 15. This year’s camp will feature four days of educational fun for students entering grades 3 through 6. The themes this year are History of Animation, The Boston Tea Party/Revolutionary War, The 1980s, and Egypt/King Tut. Camp will include guest speakers, games, activities and a snack each day.

The cost for the camp is $60 for all four days, or $18 per individual day. Space is limited. Registration is required. Contact the Reeves Museum at 330-343-7040 to request a registration form, or download it from www.doverhistory.org.

Dover Public Library offers summer reading program

DOVER – The Dover Public Library, 525 Walnut St., is offering a summer reading program. This summer's theme is “Game on, Read on” and involves all things games. The library staff is ready to make summer exciting with board games, video games and outdoor games.

Beginning Tuesday, children can sign up for summer reading and receive a fun startup package. The startup package for the first 250 kids signing up will include a summer reading bingo tracker to track the child's reading progress and give them chances to win prizes. They also will get a fun bag filled with goodies and coupons for fun summer events. Every child who signs up before June 21 will get a free small treat voucher that they can use at the Kona Ice truck that will be at the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21. The voucher is good for that day only at the Dover Public Library. When the bingo tracker is filled out and returned to the library the child will be entered into an end-of-summer drawing for a grand prize of a Nintendo Switch Light and accessory pack plus over 20 other prizes of gift certificates and games. The first tracker completed will give the child a prize book and goodies and each additional tracker will give more chances for prizes.

On Friday, the library will launch the Oliver K. Woodsman assembly, the library's take on the Operation game. Kids will assemble their very own Oliver with wood, screws, nuts and bolts. They will also get to see where Oliver has traveled by looking at the library's Ohio and United States maps that have been pinned. Library cards that Oliver has brought back from as far away as Alaska and from 25 Ohio libraries will also be on display. Registration is required.

Fundraiser at church Saturday

DUNDEE – The Dundee United Methodist Church, 6764 Ohio 93, will hold an East Palestine fundraiser from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The free-will donation menu includes creamed chicken and sloppy Joe sandwiches, macaroni salad, Hog Heaven baked beans, and a variety of desserts. Dine in or carry out, indoor and outdoor dining will be available. Proceeds will be used to purchase and deliver water and cleaning supplies for the residents of East Palestine.

Monetary donations can be made to Dundee United Methodist Church and sent to P.O. Box 22, Dundee, OH 44624, note “East Palestine Fundraiser” on your check. Call 330-324-4887 for information.

Performing Arts Center season unveiling scheduled

NEW PHILADELPHIA − The Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas will announce its 13th season June 10 during an unveiling event held at the Performing Arts Center, 330 University Dr. NE. The evening begins at 7 p.m. with the formal unveiling, followed immediately after by a reception in the lobby. The event is free to Performing Arts Center members. A livestream of the announcement will be available on the Performing Arts Center’s website.

Members of the Performing Arts Center enjoy certain benefits not available to the general public. In addition to attending the Unveiling Event, members are also the first to purchase tickets during special pre-sale periods. Members of the Dean’s Circle and Sustaining Patron levels have the option to have seats held for their exclusive purchase as well as complimentary tickets to select shows on the season. Several new membership levels have been added this year along with additional benefits including reserved parking spots and admission to the PAC’s newest pre-show reception space, The Pit. And of course, a portion of every membership is tax deductible!

While PAC memberships are available all year, the deadline to purchase memberships with the benefit of attending the June 10 unveiling is June 5.

PAC members will have exclusive access to purchase tickets to the 2023-24 season from June 12 to June 21. Packages of four or more shows can be purchased by non-members beginning June 22. Single show ticket sales begin June 26.

New Philadelphia Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet is June 10

Tuscarawas County library offers summer reading program

NEW PHILADELPHIA – The Tuscarawas County Public Library System invites participation in this year’s summer reading program titled “All Together Now” with activities and contests. Kids, teens and adults can earning prizes this summer at the Main Library, as well as the branches from June 5 through July 29.

Library customers can download the Beanstack Tracker app onto any of their smart devices or visit tusclibrary.beanstack.org on a home computer to register for Summer Reading. Through Beanstack, participants can track reading, participate in challenges, and engage in fun literacy activities.

Kids are challenged to read 20 hours this summer, and with each hour completed, they will be entered into a grand prize drawing. Once they read for 20 hours, they earn a free book that they can pick up from any TCPL location.

Teens and adults are challenged to read for 20 hours this summer. For each hour read, they gain an entry for the grand prize. Just like the kids’ challenge, adults and teens will be entered into a monthly prize drawing for each program they attend.

The library system will be kicking off its Summer Reading program with a party. Each Summer Reading Kickoff Party will be unique but will include music, food and fun. Dates and times of each party are as follows:

  • Thursday, 5:30 p.m. – Main Library, 121 Fair Ave. NW, New Philadelphia

  • Thursday, 5:30 p.m. – Bolivar Branch, 455 W. Water St.

  • Friday, 4 p.m. – Sugarcreek Branch, 120 S. Broadway

  • Saturday, 10 a.m. – Tuscarawas Branch, 209 S. Main St.
