Ruth Bader Ginsburg portrayal is Thursday

DOVER − The College Club of Tuscarawas County and Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., will host actress Juliette Regnier at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the library’s Community Room as she portrays late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Regnier is a member of Women in History, a nonprofit group dedicated to education through the dramatic recreation of lives of notable women in history. The actresses research and study each historical figure to create riveting and entertaining life stories.

Pajama party for kids at Reeves Museum

DOVER − The Reeves Museum, 325 E. Iron Ave., will host “Jeeves’ Jammie Jam Sleepover” beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Carriage House.

Children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal or doll for a sleepover in the Reeves Museum with Jeeves, the museum’s mascot. Kids can come in their pajamas to hear a bedtime story, then tuck their friend in for a good night’s rest before leaving them for the night. The next morning, the kids come back at 11 a.m. to pick up their friend, enjoy juice and doughnuts, and hear everything about their buddy’s adventures.

The event is free. Reservations are required; call the museum office at 330-343-7040.

Evening of Celtic Music and Dance on Saturday

MINERVA − The Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce will offer its 10th annual Evening of Celtic Music and Dance in the newly reopened Roxy Theatre, 114 N. Market St., at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature the music of Ireland and Scotland, as well as dancers from the O’Kennedy-Holland Irish Dance Academy. Musicians will include traditional Irish band Bealtaine from Pittsburgh, Tom Freeland, Jim GraySmith and Jordan GraySmith.

Traditional Irish and Scottish baked goods, including shortbread, scones, double fudge Irish cream cookies, Irish dairy cake, whiskey cake and gingersnaps, will be available by donation, and chances will be sold for a Celtic raffle basket. Tickets are $10 each, available at the chamber office, 203 N. Market St., or on celticmusicminerva.eventbrite.com. Unless the event is sold out, tickets will be available at the door.

Beatles request show Yesterday and Today is Saturday

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University-Tuscarawas, 330 University Drive NE.

The band, anchored by brothers Billy, Matthew and Ryan McGuigan, perform as themselves and leave the song choices in the hands of the audience. This is done through request cards that audience members fill out prior to the show. On those cards, audience members need to fill out three things: their name, their favorite Beatles song and the reason why they chose that song. The cards are collected, and two minutes before the show begins, a set list is created based upon the songs that particular audience chose.

Tickets start at $30 and are on sale at the Performing Arts Center box office, 330-308-6400, or at www.kent.edu/tuscpac. The box office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Learn about haunted places in Ohio

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Author, magician and entertainer Jim Kleefeld will present a program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tuscarawas County Main Library, 121 Fair Ave. NW, titled "Ohio Spirits: Stories, Tales, & Legends from Haunted Places in Ohio."

Kleefeld will cover many haunted happenings taking place in the state and give information on places such as the Mansfield Reformatory, Franklin Castle and The Golden Lamb. The program is geared toward adults. Register at www.tusclibrary.org or call the Main Library at 330-364- 4474.

Welfare Reform Committee to meet

NEW PHILADELPHIA − The Tuscarawas County Welfare Reform Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Conference Room A at the Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services office, 389 16th St. SW. The public is welcome to attend.

Electronics recycling event Saturday

NEW PHILADELPHIA − The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host a drive-thru electronic, e-waste and computer recycling event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its Main Library in the public parking lot off North Broadway. The recycling event is in partnership with eCycle Solutions of Ohio.

Examples of accepted items include but are not limited to computers, printers, scanners, modems. routers, cell phones, VCRs, DVD players, game consoles, stereo/audio equipment, small desktop copiers, fax machines, lead acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries, Christmas lights, ballasts, vacuum, carpet cleaners, sweepers, and small household appliances. There is no limit on the number of items a person can recycle.

Biohazardous equipment, glass tube screens, alkaline batteries, CRT monitors, light bulbs, or fluorescent tubes will not be accepted.

Author at Sugarcreek library Tuesday

SUGARCREEK − The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host author Lizzy Hershberger at the Sugarcreek Branch, 120 South Broadway St., at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Hershberger will discuss her novel “Behind Blue Curtains: A True Crime Memoir of an Amish Woman's Survival, Escape, and Pursuit of Justice.” Hershberger was raised by the ultra-conservative Swartzentruber Amish in Minnesota.

Scio Volunteer Fire Department elects officers

SCIO − The Scio Volunteer Fire Department recently elected officers for 2023. Fire Line officers are Fire Chief Ron Thompson; Assistant Fire Chie Joe Myers; 1st Captains, Reese Beasley and Rick Thompson; 2nd Captains Evan Myers and Dan Thorton; 3rd Captains Kaci Edwards and Shannon Jenkins; EMS Captain Rick Howell; training officer Rick Thompson; and truck engineers Joe Myers and Evan Myers.

Business officers are President Reese Beasley; Vice President Evan Myers; Secretary Erin Thompson; Treasurer Terry Zantene; Trustees JT Thompson, Joe Myers and Kaci Edwards; and food purchasing manager Dan Henry.

The Fire Department provides fire protection and EMS service to Scio, North Township, and Stock Township. The department consists of 30 members.
