Reeves Museum Spring Tea is March 19

DOVER − The Reeves Museum, 325 E. Iron Ave., will host a Spring Tea at 2 p.m. March 19. Rose Gabriele will give a dramatic presentation about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Library hosts program on southern Africa, celebrates Pi Day

DOVER – Dover resident Jim CahilI will present a program titled “The Beauty, Problems and Mysteries of Southern Africa” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the library’s Community Room, 525 N. Walnut St.

Tuesday (March 14) is Pi Day and kids can stop by the library from 4 to 5 p.m. and make their own personal pie to take home and enjoy. Pi, which is represented by the symbol for the Greek letter of the same name (π), is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159. Thus, every March 14 (3.14), pi, a number that mathematicians have attempted to expand their understanding of for thousands of years, is celebrated.

Dover High School to present ‘The Sound of Music’

DOVER – The Dover High School Thespians will present the musical “The Sound of Music” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Dover High School auditorium, 520 N. Walnut St.

For reserved tickets, call the box office at 330-602-1676 during school hours beginning Monday. General admission seats are available an hour before curtain at each of the performances. All tickets are $10.

Celtic Rush to perform concert next Sunday

DOVER − Celtic Rush, a traditional Irish band from Northeast Ohio, will perform at 2 p.m. March 19 in the north reading room of the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St.

Reeves Foundation grant application deadline March 22

DOVER − The deadline for submitting requests to the Reeves Foundation for grants to be awarded in April is March 22.

Local nonprofits that address the needs of the community should contact the foundation for grant application information by emailing office@reevesfound.org or by calling 330-364-4660. Requests of all sizes are considered, but organizations must be 501(c)(3) certified. Emphasis is placed on capital-type expenditures rather than on operating funds.

The foundation board meets bimonthly to consider grant requests, and the application deadline isthree weeks prior to the meeting.

Historian to explain resources at Dover library

DOVER – Local history librarian Kim Jurkovic will explain the historical resources available at the Dover Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Community Room at the library, 525 N. Walnut St. Register at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123.

The archives of the Dover Historical Society, located in the lower level of the Dover Public Library, house items that document Dover’s history, including Dover High School yearbooks, maps, newspapers, photographs and city directories. People can also obtain information from microfilms.

The public is welcome to peruse these documents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Sandy Valley High School to present ‘Annie’

MAGNOLIA – The Sandy Valley High School Drama Department will present "Annie" at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. March 19 at the high school, 5362 state Route 183 NE.

History on display Saturday

MINERAL CITY – The Warren Township Community Center will sponsor History Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the center, 3986 New Cumberland Road NE, in the old New Cumberland Elementary School.

There will be displays by Zoar Village and Fort Laurens, the Tuscarawas County Historical Society, the Bolivar Area Historical Society, the Mineral City Area Historical Society and the Southeastern Ohio Society for Bigfoot Investigations.

Children's craft event March 19

NEW PHILADELPHIA − A free children’s “Crafternoon” event will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. March 19 at the Tuscora Park Pavilion, 161 Tuscora Ave. NW. Children ages 3 to 10 can create spring-themed crafts and enjoy refreshments. Garaway kindergarten registration is March 20-24

SUGARCREEK − Kindergarten registration for all Garaway elementary schools (Baltic, Ragersville, Miller Avenue, and Dundee) will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. March 20 to 24.

Parents should bring the child’s Social Security card, birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residency and custody papers, if applicable. Students are not required to attend registration.

Registration forms may be completed ahead of time at https://www.garaway.org/FormsDownloads.aspx and dropped off the week of registration.

Clay Capital Heritage Center raffle is Friday

UHRICHSVILLE – The Clay Capital Heritage Center, 330 N. Main St., will hold its annual reverse raffle starting at 10 a.m. Friday.

The raffle drawdown will be streamed live on the Clay Capital Heritage Center Facebook page. Tickets are $20, which includes entry into the raffle, which yields several cash prizes along the way to the grand prize of $1,000. Only 320 tickets will be printed, and ticketholders do not need to be on the livestream to win. Buy tickets at The Dennison Depot or from a representative of the event.

Hiking event for dogs and owners is Saturday

ZOAR – TuscParks will host a free “Dog Days of Spring-Strut Your Mutt on the Towpath” event from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Canal Lands Park Trailhead, 8645 Dover-Zoar Road. Owners and dogs are invited to register at the picnic shelter and venture out on the trail.

Community members are encouraged to come dressed up like their pet. Area businesses have donated door prizes. Attendees can earn tickets for attending, hiking with a pet, or hiking while dressed like their pet. Camp Tuscazoar Maple Days breakfast next weekend

ZOARVILLE – Camp Tuscazoar will host its annual Maple Days breakfast on Saturday and March 19.

The breakfast menu will offer all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, applesauce and samples of maple syrup. Meals will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day in the camp’s dining hall. Seating will be available at both indoor and outdoor tables.

This fundraiser is open to the public and provides resources for maintenance, repair and construction projects at the historic 800-acre camp. Bottles and jugs of Camp Tuscazoar’s all-natural syrup will be for sale. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger if purchased in advance. Tickets purchased at the door are $12 for adults and $6 for children 10 and younger.
