Tuscarawas County students receive scholarships

Tuscarawas County YMCA

DOVER − The Tuscarawas County YMCA has awarded scholarships totaling $13,400 to 11 area students from the Thomas J. Patton/YMCA Scholarship Fund.

Scholarship recipients are:

  • 2023 New Philadelphia High School graduates Kaitlyn Armstrong, Samantha Courtney.

  • 2023 Claymont High School graduate Bailey Eddleman

  • 2023 Dover High School graduates Josie Pinelli, Kasey Ruegsegger

  • 2023 Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School graduates Edith Quiroz, Alicia Sica-Calel

  • Current college students Brenton Billman of New Philadelphia, Lexus Marsh of Dover, Lucas Marsh of Dover, Maci Willoughby of Strasburg.

Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church

DOVER − Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church recently awarded 11 scholarships.

The Hammerstrom Scholarship Fund was established by Philip and Marceil Hammerstrom to assist college students pursuing degrees in the medical field or engineering. Trade school educational assistance is also acceptable for consideration.

Eight students each received $3,500 one-year Hammerstrom scholarships: Dover residents Jesse Austin Brothers, Reagan Brothers, Grace Castricone, Katelyn Foust, Lucas Marsh, Brody Morris, Olivia Wellman. Also: Jaclyn Stull

These three first-year students received a $1,500 award from the Grace Lutheran General Scholarship Fund: Jordan Eick, of New Philadelphia; Naomi Hallman, of Dennison; and Jacob Roman-Willey

Thad VanArsdalen

NEW PHILADELPHIA – Thad VanArsdalen, a pole vaulter for the New Philadelphia High School track squad, is this year's recipient of the Dave Milburn Memorial Scholarship.

Cole Hutchinson

STRASBURG − Cole Hutchinson, a 2023 graduate of Strasburg High School, has received the full-tuition Presidential Scholarship for the 2023-24 academic school year at Aultman College in Canton, which prepares students for healthcare careers.

OSU Alumni Club

The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Tuscarawas County recently awarded scholarships to 22 local high school seniors and currently enrolled students attending OSU.

Dawson Cox of Claymont, Hannah Locke and Lucas Lane of Dover and Kaiden Stewart of New Philadelphia received $1,000 Molly B. Demuth Memorial Scholarships.

Andrew Harvey, Ohio State, received the $1,000 Factory Street Pub & Grill Scholarship.

Julio Sica-Perez, Tuscarawas Central Catholic, received the $1,500 Matthew Hall/Robert Gast Scholarship.

Emma Leggett, Ohio State, received a $1,000 Hanhart Agency, Inc. Scholarship.

Three students received $1,000 Terry and Virginia Hiller Memorial Scholarships. They are Krista Bair of Indian Valley, Eddie Bautista-Garcia of Ohio State and Marlie Moner of Newcomerstown.

Bradley Gigax, Emma Lesiecki and Grace Wallace of Ohio State received $1,000 Bob and Becky Horn Family Scholarships.

Will Frautschy of Dover and Allyson Vasbinder of Ohio State received $1,000 Timothy and Karen Stokey Family Scholarships.

Seven students received $1,000 Tuscarawas County Alumni Club Endowed Scholarships. They are Matthew Koehler of Tuscarawas Valley and Aleia Alsept, Landon Beckley, Grace Gao, Taylor Luneborg, Brooklyn Poland and Sawyer Ramsey of Ohio State.
