KEY ACTION The board approved a continuing contract for Torey Conner, kindergarten teacher, effective in the 2022-23 school year.

DISCUSSION: The board also granted one-year certified contacts to Shelley Clemence, Primary Intervention Specialist, and Christopher Gallentine, Intermediate Intervention Specialist, both effective Aug. 18. Two-year classified contracts were issued to Christine Smith, Annamarie Strauss.

In another matter, board members attended a statewide Ohio School Board Association leadership institute in Columbus. The leadership program consisted of two days with about 150 Ohio school board members participating. Also featured were workshops covering essential school board leadership topics. Board member Dick Gooding said the leadership program was exciting.

“We are a well rounded and healthy board and I am thankful for my fellow board members. We have good people leading our school because of our superintendent,” Gooding’s said.

Board member Sally Green said the program was an exceptional experience of current situations and problem-solving techniques that school boards face today. She said it was very worthwhile to attend and learn about what other boards are facing and how they deal with the problems.

“It was refreshing to attend with the entire board. Coming home I realized what a healthy district we have. We have administrative teams and staff with longevity and board members that bring knowledge , in different areas, to make TV a well-rounded district,” Board President Amy Burrier said.

OTHER ACTION

• Accepted the resignations of Terri Cantwell, Instructional Aide, and Debra Kollar, both for retirement; Kenneth Fanty, high school monitor; Willard Himes, bus driver; Kellie Rufener, middle school Intervention Specialist; Danielle Terry, high school cashier.

• Rescinded the unpaid leave of absence for Andrea Janson, and approved the employment of Janson, half-time Interventional Specialist, effective in the 2022-23 school year and Katie Settimio and Joel Goodwin, Washington DC supplemental contract approved at the April 4 meeting.

• Approved employment for five summer temporary employees at $15 per hour, up to eight-hours a day from May 31 through Aug. 17, as needed/instructed by administration.

• Gave approval to eight employees as Summer 2022 Academic/Social Emotional Coaches, four hours, up to 40 hours as needed and directed by the administration.

• Approved a $7,500 stipend to Andrea Clements, pre-kindergarten to fourth-grade principal.

• Granted a supplemental certified contract to Gabrielle Schwartz and Arien Wise, DC trip chaperones.

• Issued one-year supplemental contracted employees Sara Farnsworth, middle school cheerleading, Lauren McMullin, varsity cheerleading.

-Approved the list of 2022 high school graduates.

• Released the conditional employment of Noah Rucker, high school custodian, pursuant to a criminal background check, effective May 10.

• Appointed Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Work Well as the designated medical center to perform Department of Transportation T8 physicals and random drug and breath alcohol testing for certified bus and van drivers. As required by law.

• Gave approval to enter into a contract with KidsLink for the purpose of meeting the educational needs and providing the necessary services for individual educational plans (IEP) for a student of the district at a cost of $435 per day.

• Learned new buses have arrived. The district will operate 19 buses to pickup students.

• An athletic holiday will be in effect from Tuesday June 28 to Friday July 8 for a TV students’ athletes (grades 7-12.) The school gyms will be closed during that time.

• Recognized the April and May students of the month; April – Dawson Williams, high school, Trevor Warren, fine artist. May – Robert Richie, high school, David Leshon, fine artist, Kylie Rohr and Austin Kohler, athlete. Middle school – Wyatt Twiss, fifth-grade; Keegan Whitlach, sixth-grade; Kaelyn Klotz, seventh-grade; Delany Erickson, eighth-grade; Audriana McKernan, fine artist.

• Recognized 29 high school seniors that earned either a Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude, Honors Diploma or is a National Honor Society member. Many seniors earned one or more honors.

UP NEXT meets at 7 p.m. June 13 in the high school Trojan Center.
