Recent meeting

KEY ACTION The second reading of an ordinance to regulate the keeping of animals on properties located within the territorial limits of the Village of Tuscarawas was heard. It also repeals an earlier ordinance.

DISCUSSION: After discussion, council agreed to have the ordinance amended to make an exemption for the property located at 566 School St. due to the past usage of the property.

OTHER ACTION

• Agreed to purchase a magnetized sewer lid at a cost not to exceed $1200. The amount is to be taken from the Sewer Fund.

• Agreed to purchase a banding tool to be used in putting up the new holiday banners and other projects at a cost not to exceed $200.

• Council agreed that they do not want to participate in the Ohio Municipal League.

• Marc Hollinger, of Aspen Energy, notified the Village that he is holding off until spring for utility aggregation in hopes that prices become more stable.

• Administrator DJ Meek updated council on the progress of the Water System Improvements Project.

• A motion was made to bill Joyce Walton, owner of the Corner Tavern, for one account at the commercial rate per month until her water meter is installed. She has financially committed to buying a water meter and the installation and was paying two utility bills.

• A meeting will be held with Thrasher Engineering to discuss future projects and funding through Community Development Block Grants.

• Agreed to purchase an auto chlorine changeover for the water building at a cost not to exceed $3,000. The total will come from the Water Fund.

• The flow meter for the wastewater was recalibrated as mandated by the EPA.

• Salt has been delivered.

• Harold Booth has been working on the lights at the Tuscarawas Branch library.

• Docks have been removed from the boat ramp area.

• Mayor Dana Moore said the village has an ordinance in place authorizing the receipt of fire loss insurance proceeds. The house fire on Main Ave. remains under investigation, Moore noted.

• Discussed residents in the village who have a Gnadenhutten address due to wanting mail delivered to their home and how it effects the Village when it comes to license plate fees, etc.

• Reminded residents of the December meeting schedule for the 16th and the 30th, due to the holidays.
