ACTFest: Theatre Tuscaloosa and Shelton State Community College are for the fourth time partnering with the Alabama Conference of Theatre (ACT) to host the Alabama Community Theatre Festival (ACTFest), in the Bean-Brown Theatre. Every other year, this festival is part of the national American Association of Community Theatre Festival (AACTFest). This is a nationals year, and Theatre Tuscaloosa will be entering "Launch Day," the third original play it has entered.

Tickets to individual shows are $10 each. An annual membership in the ACT costs $25, which gives admission to all ACTFest activities. Tickets may be purchased online through www.theatretusc.com/actfest-2022-23, by phone at 205-391-2277, or at the door starting one hour before each performance. The schedule:

For this first time, ACTFest will include four categories of Individual Events: Solo Acting, Solo Musical Theatre, Group Acting, and Group Musical. Solo events will be held 9:45-11:25 a.m. Saturday, in the Alabama Power Recital Hall. IEs will be adjudicated by the same panel of judges who will adjudicate the festival show performances and participants will receive written feedback from each adjudicator. Honorees will be selected in each category. Those who purchase an annual membership with ACT will be granted access to silently observe the individual performances.
