"Elf The Musical Jr.": Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre production based on the 2003 comedy "Elf," 7 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, in the Bama Theatre, 600 Greensboro Ave. Tickets are $20 for premium seats in the first 10 rows, center aisle; $15 general; $10 for students and seniors. Both Saturday performances will be half-price. All tickets are subject to a $1 facility fee. Tickets are available for purchase at www.tuscaloosachildrenstheatre.net. Performers include 51 local children ages 5 to 18, under the direction of Drew Baker, TCT's artistic director.

Dickens Downtown: 5-8 p.m., downtown Northport. Free, family-friendly event styled after a Victorian Christmas celebration, with food, music and other entertainment.

The 2021 Tinsel Trail: featuring more than 190 live Christmas trees decorated by local businesses, organizations and individuals, will move to Government Plaza for 2021, because of ongoing road construction on Jack Warner Parkway. www.ttowntinsel.com.

Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience: Running daily except Mondays, through Jan. 2, BJCC North Exhibition Hall, Birmingham. Multimedia experience utilizing more than 300 iconic Van Gogh works including "The Starry Night," "Sunflowers" and "Cafe Terrace at Night," set to a symphonic score and using the artist's dreams, thoughts, and words as narrative, flowing across multiple surfaces. Tuscaloosa native, Jennifer Lauren Quarles, a principal soloist with the Miami City Ballet will perform as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Renan Cerdeiro, a native of Brazil and principal dancer with the Miami City Ballet, will be joining to perform the role of Cavalier.
