"The Nutcracker": by Tuscaloosa Community Dancers, Bama Theatre. Performances at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, and 2 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Tuscaloosa native Jennifer Lauren Quarles, a principal soloist with the Miami City Ballet will perform as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Renan Cerdeiro, a native of Brazil and principal dancer with the Miami City Ballet, will be joining to perform the role of Cavalier. Tuscaloosa Santacon 2021: Toy benefit and pub crawl; pub crawl begins at 8 p.m. Friday at Alcove International Tavern in downtown Tuscaloosa. Toy drop-off Thursday . Bring an unopened toy for children ages up to age 18, or make a donation to Turning Point of West Alabama via venmo @TtownSantaCon2021. Home and bath supplies, and feminine hygiene products for mothers of the kids are encouraged. The toy drop-off will be at Druid City Brewing Co. on Thursday; if you can't make it, donations can be dropped by anytime the week before.

Costumes are required for the pub crawl. Each stop will run about 30 minutes, and cash is encouraged, to keep the lines moving. A group photo will be shot at the Tinsel Trail, adjacent to Alcove in Government Plaza, before the 8 p.m. departure.

"Girl's Weekend": Theatre Tuscaloosa will perform the slapstick comedy by Karen Schaeffer, in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College, with performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday; 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16-17, and 2 p.m. Dec. 18-19. Tickets are $19 general, $17 for seniors, members of the military, and Shelton State employees, and $14 for students and children. The final dress rehearsal will serve as a pay-what-you-can preview at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with proceeds benefiting the Charlie Dennis Memorial Scholarship.

The comedy features Dot, Carol, Meg, and her daughter Ellie, who get together in a remote cabin for a winter getaway. The four soon find themselves missing their partners, and each plots to sneak their love interest into the cabin without the others knowing. With wine flowing and conversation flying, the four women soon realize how difficult their secret dalliances will be. It's directed by Charles Prosser, and featuring Carol DeVelice as Dot, Jessica Briana Kelly as Carol, Jamie Shannon Ferguson Ertle as Meg, and Margaret Carr as Meg’s daughter Ellie. MONDAY-TUESDAY

Auditions for "On Golden Pond": 7-10 p.m. for Theatre Tuscaloosa's production of the play that inspired the Oscar-winning film starring Jane and Henry Fonda, and Katherine Hepburn. The roles of Norman and Chelsea (the father and daughter) have been cast, but all other roles are open. Those interested in auditioning should be prepared for cold readings from the script, and bring a calendar of any potential conflicts for the rehearsals. A perusal script is available in the ticket office during normal business hours. The 2021 Tinsel Trail: featuring more than 190 live Christmas trees decorated by local businesses, organizations and individuals, will move to Government Plaza for 2021, because of ongoing road construction on Jack Warner Parkway. www.ttowntinsel.com.

Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience: Running daily except Mondays, through Jan. 2, BJCC North Exhibition Hall, Birmingham. Multimedia experience utilizing more than 300 iconic Van Gogh works including "The Starry Night," "Sunflowers" and "Cafe Terrace at Night," set to a symphonic score and using the artist's dreams, thoughts, and words as narrative, flowing across multiple surfaces.
