Tuttle's Landry Allen, Weatherford's CJ Nickson named 2022-23 Western Athletic Conference MVPs
Landry Allen and CJ Nickson received the top honors in the Western Athletic Conference.
The conference released its 2022-23 high school basketball awards Tuesday, and MVP accolades went to the Tuttle center and the Weatherford forward.
Allen, a senior OU women’s basketball signee, entered the Class 4A state tournament averaging 16.9 points and nine rebounds per game. She helped the Tigers reach the semifinals and finish with a 26-3 record. Tuttle girls coach Jamie Combs was named WAC Coach of the Year.
Bethany, the Class 4A state champion that eliminated Tuttle in the semis, has the most All-Conference girls players with four.
Nickson, a sophomore with multiple football and basketball offers, boosted Weatherford’s boys basketball team on the way to facing Douglass in the Class 4A state finals. He averaged 21.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game heading into the tournament, and the Eagles finished 28-2.
