TV channel, kickoff time set for South Carolina football game vs. Mississippi State

The kickoff time and TV channel for South Carolina’s first conference home game of 2023 is now set.

The Gamecocks play the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Williams-Brice Stadium, it was announced Monday. The game will be televised on SEC Network.

South Carolina (1-1, 0-0) and Mississippi State (2-0, 0-0) face off for the first time since 2016. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series 9-7, but lost the last meeting in Starkville 27-14. Before dropping that game, South Carolina had won seven straight in the series between 2000 and 2013.

Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer’s first full-time coaching gig was at Mississippi State. He joined the Bulldogs’ staff as cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator in 2004.

Mississippi State plays under the guidance of first-year head coach Zach Arnett. He served as the Bulldogs’ defensive coordinator for three years (2020-22), leading them to a top-five SEC standing in total defense, rushing defense and takeaways.
