Twitter Is Going Off Over Billy Bush’s First Red Carpet Appearance in Three Years
In case you forgot, since it’s 2019 and Donald Trump is literally the president, the other guy caught on THAT Access Hollywood tape is just getting back to business. You know, the one where Billy Bush laughs as Trump describes groping women without their consent. The tape that launched a thousand Twitter bots screaming, “It’s just locker room talk!”
It’s been a big month for Billy, who was fired from the Today show when the tape went public in 2016, just before the presidential election. His new hosting gig with ExtraExtra started up in early September, and he finalized his divorce from Sydney Davis after 21 years of marriage. Tonight is his first red-carpet appearance since being let go and it seems like his former colleagues are happy to see him:
Been here 30 mins, can tell there’s big buzz for Billy Bush making first red carpet appearance in couple years. I just invu’d him and he tells me hes excited but bit nervous to be back and not screw up any names. He’s getting enthusiastic response from former colleagues. #Emmys pic.twitter.com/5xR3I5KGh8

“Been here 30 mins, can tell there’s big buzz for Billy Bush making first red-carpet appearance in couple years,” Chris Gardner reported on Twitter. “I just invu’d him and he tells me he’s excited but bit nervous to be back and not screw up any names. He’s getting enthusiastic response from former colleagues.”
In May, Billy Bush told People that he fell “completely apart” after being fired from Today. “I’ve been through resentment and anger and being inconsolable. But then I realized I had an opportunity to put one foot in front of the other and get going.”
It seems he’s fully ready to put it behind him. While chewing gum on the purple carpet, Billy tells Variety that he’s not concerned about any backlash over his reappearance. According to him, it’s “old news.”

It’s not old news when it’s still relevant as a current reflection of our government and no sign of a change for the better in this particular person. Get him off the red carpet. #metoo #herstory #timesup #emmy

Despite what viewers at home have to say, he’s already back at it with the Emmys stars, taking shots with Emilia Clarke and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game of Thrones.
