If there’s one thing Lady Gaga can never be accused of, it’s being predictable, which is why we shouldn’t be massively surprised that she used her time on the Grammys stage to put a bit of ~spin~ on her music.
The singer – who won several awards on the night for both Joanne and A Star Is Born – reminded everyone that she is a fully-fledged rockstar with or without the help of Bradley Cooper.
And while some people were loving her glam-rock performance, others were hoping for a more stripped back and low-key rendition of ‘Shallow.’
“No disrespect to #LadyGaga bc I think she is a very talented artist and an amazing vocalist. However, my neck literally hurts from watching her throw her head back-and-forth like that. #GRAMMYs" one person said.
Gaga doesn’t NEED Bradley, she can pee HERSELF thank you very much- Hillary Busis (@hillibusterr) February 11, 2019
Another joked: “Gaga doesn’t NEED Bradley, she can pee HERSELF thank you very much,” while a third added: “#LadyGaga looks, sounds, and dances like the crab from #Moana. #GRAMMYs.”
Er, spoken like that’s a bad thing?
Even so, a bunch of fans came out to defend her unique performance and said that the whole thing is what makes Lady Gaga such an icon of her time: “Lady Gaga is literally carrying the music industry on her back.#GRAMMYs”
Her next awards appearance will take place at the Oscars, with co-star Bradley recently opening up about being nervous to take to the stage with her: “I'm sure I'll be terrified," he told E! News at the Director's Guild Awards.
We already can't wait.
