Twitter slams CNN for banning New Year’s boozing by Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper: ‘What is the point of television?

Why bother with New Year’s Eve TV if you can’t watch the hosts get plastered?

That was many Twitter users’ complaint Saturday as they slammed CNN for barring Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper and other hosts from adding to the holiday fun by tippling as they wait for the ball to drop.

“No drunk Don Lemon. No drunk Anderson Cooper. No drunk Andy Cohen. 2023 already starting off trash,” tweeted one critic.

“All I wanted was to eat cheese and watch Andy Cohen get Anderson Cooper drunk and make him blush,” said another disappointed tweeter.

“Ok last year on NYE, @Andy changed my life. If this man can’t get a little buzz going while Anderson cooper [sic] let’s [sic] his hair down and the two drunkenly zoom @ReginaKing while she herself is drunk at a party WHAT IS THE POINT OF TELEVISION @CNN?” exclaimed another.

“Real Housewives” executive producer Cohen, 54, made headlines last year for drunkenly slamming ABC’s rival broadcast, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” as host “Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers.”

Days later, he apologized for his self-proclaimed “stupid and drunk” rant, which also included words for the band Journey and outgoing mayor Bill de Blasio.

“American Idol” host Seacrest, 48, this week took an unsubtle dig at Cohen and CNN when he said: “I don’t advocate drinking when one is on the air.”

“I don’t know how that started as a tradition,” Seacrest told Entertainment Weekly. “But it’s probably a good idea [to scale back], CNN.”
