Twitter users body-shame Madonna: 'Looks like someone got butt implants off Craigslist'

Following a performance at New York's Stonewall Inn, users on Twitter began attacking Madonna, who was photographed looking curvier than usual.

Madonna is facing major critiques about her body after a new photo went viral this week.

Following a New Year's performance just after midnight at New York's Stonewall Inn, users on Twitter began attacking the 60-year-old singer, whose backside appeared curvier than usual during the set.

Many speculated the songstress got butt implants while others argued she was wearing some sort of padding under her pants.

One user joked that she was "modeling adult diapers now."

"I've had plastic surgery so I'm all for it in moderation BUT the doctor who did this to Madonna is (expletive) wrong for this," another tweeted. "Is Madonna trying to be a Kardashian? I'm not trying to body shame but young girls see this. Girls don't go this far have pride in your body and what you have!"

"I hope she's wearing some sort of butt cushion," another person posted.

Some social media users opted to share snarky comments along with the photo.

"Looks like someone got butt implants off Craigslist," one person wrote.

Yet another said speculated Madonna was simply carrying "a wallet stuffed with money."

Some Twitter users defended the singer, imploring others to stop body-shaming her.

"Leave Madonna alone," one fan wrote. "we will all be old one day, she has made her money and has given a great life to children that would be poverty stricken or dead if it wasn’t for her!!! She can do what she wants, she’s a great humanitarian!!!"

Even many defending Madonna couldn't help but weigh in on her new look.

"If someone wants surgery, they can do it, their body their choice," another person wrote. "But MANNNNN, beauty standards today somehow made Madonna get a botched butt surgery....yikes."

Madonna surprised fans at Stonewall by performing her 1989 hit "Like a Prayer" and Elvis Presley's "Can’t Help Falling in Love." She was joined by her 13-year-old son, David Banda, who played guitar.

Before performing, the singer gave a speech about starting the New Year with kindness and inclusion.

"If we truly took the time to get to know one another, we would find that we all bleed the same color and we all need to love and be loved," she told the crowd. "Let’s remember who and what we are fighting for – ourselves, for each other."

She continued: "Let’s take a minute to reflect on how we can bring more love and peace into 2019, let’s look at how we can bring random acts of kindness. Maybe we can find an opening to bring the light in. Are you ready to do that?"
