Donald and Melania Trump place candy on top of child's Minion Halloween costume, video goes viral

WASHINGTON โ€“ As Halloween revelers prepare for Thursday's spooky celebrations, many have already been enjoying a pre-All Hallows Eve treat thanks to President Donald Trump.

On Monday, the president and first lady Melania Trump had children from military families and local schools over to the White House for a Halloween celebration. As the couple doled out sweets to the costumed kids, Trump decided to place a candy bar on top of one child dressed as a Minion from "Despicable Me" rather placing it in the kid's bag.

The first lady followed suit and the candy quickly slid off the costume onto the ground as a visibly amused Trump stood by. A nearby adult then placed the fallen candy in the child's bag.

Video of the encounter went viral, along with a flood of social media commentary. Many users thought the president was confused as to where to put the candy. But others pointed out that the child was holding a bright orange bag and implied Trump was engaging in a Halloween trick at the youngster's expense.
