Jeffersonville, Indiana's 24-hour donut shop Jeff's Donuts opened a second location in Louisville in St. Matthews in November.

Now, the store is planning two more Louisville locations.

One store is coming to Fern Creek at 6405 Bardstown Road in a former Jimmy John's, while the second will open in Forest Hills at 1985 S. Hurstbourne Parkway, according to plans filed with Louisville Metro. Both stores are more than 1,400 square feet.

Jeff's Donuts makes large, from-scratch doughnuts in more than 40 varieties, from fritters to Long Johns, zingers, chocolate glazed doughnuts and honeybuns.

In a previous interview, baker Alex Egly said the zingers, doughnuts topped with raspberry jelly and coconut cream filling, and tiger tails, doughnuts rolled with chocolate fudge to look like a tiger's tail, are particularly popular.

"The busiest time is normally in the morning between four and five a.m.," Egly said. "Then throughout the day we'll have people, but believe it or not, the third shift is when large groups of people come in after a party or something. They want something to munch on and we're one of the few things open 24/7."

Every doughnut, no matter the size or shape, is $2. Customers can buy single doughnuts or build their own boxes of four, six, 12, or 26 doughnuts.
