Elise Armacost with the Baltimore County Fire Department says two adults and one student were injured at the McDonogh School when a tower exploded Wednesday morning.

The McDonogh School in Owings Mills, is a private school outside Baltimore Maryland Wednesday.

Around 8:30am, Baltimore County Firefighters were called to the private school following the report of an explosion. Initially, they found debris and determined the top of a maintenance facility known as the "shot tower" had been blown off.

Students in a nearby building heard the loud explosion and went into lockdown.

Two adults were found inside a building attached to the "shot tower." They and another student were found to have non-life-threatening injuries and taken to a local hospital for care.

An investigation is underway into why the top of the tower blew off.
