Cause of two-alarm fire at vacant NE Charlotte apartments undetermined: CFD

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte Fire officials say they listed the cause behind a vacant northeast Charlotte apartment complex as undetermined Tuesday morning.

Emergency personnel went to the 2500 block of North Pine Street near West 28th and North Church streets around 10:20 p.m. Officials observed “heavy smoke” could be seen coming through the roof and soon classified the fire as a two-alarm effort.

About 45 firefighters controlled the fire in 31 minutes, according to authorities. No one was injured.

This fire comes after another blaze at an abandoned apartment complex in the same block on December 22, 2023.

Hours after the fire, officials posted an update on the fire investigation. Around 7 a.m., officials said the fire started on the second floor in the front bedroom at floor level.

They said evidence of vagrant activity was observed at the scene with the fire cause listed as undetermined.
