Two arrested for copper wire thefts, suspected methamphetamine in Oildale area

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One felon and his accomplice who allegedly stole copper wire were booked into jail earlier this month.

On Jan. 12, Samuel Lane, 35, and Kylee Peer, 28, were arrested for the alleged involvement in a copper wire theft near the area of Stockdale Highway and Enos Lane.

After an investigation was completed and a search warrant was served in the 1300 block of Castaic Avenue, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said it discovered approximately 200 pounds of cut copper wire, approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine, 16 firearms, and several live rounds of ammunition.

Lane was booked into the Lerdo Justice Inmate Receiving Center for booked for felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of controlled substance while armed, possession of narcotics, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, grand theft copper wire, vandalism and conspiracy, according to sheriff’s officials.

Peer was booked for grand theft of copper wire, vandalism, conspiracy and possession of stolen property.
