Two arrested for theft in Roane County

AMMA, WV (WVNS) — Two people were arrested after they were caught with a stolen car and $100,000 in stolen equipment in Roane County.

Oak Hill man faces felony charges in Fayette County

According to Captain R. A. Maddy of the West Virginia State Police, on Friday, February 2, 2024, at approximately 5:30 P.M., Trooper. B. Q. Turner and Trooper N. T. Warden were called to the scene by the Roane County Telecommunication Center to Amma, West Virginia for a possible stolen vehicle.

They were able to find the vehicle which was stuck on an ATV trail. Shortly after, the Troopers saw two people running from the vehicle. Kelly Lantz, 45 of Elkview West Virginia was then caught and arrested. Troopers were unable to find the other suspect who continued to run from the scene. Investigators were able to identify the second suspect as Brian Thompson, 42 of Cross Lanes, West Virginia.

$100,000 in stolen property was able to be returned to Shafer Equipment LLC.

The following day, at approximately 3:40 P.M., the same Troopers responded to the WVDOH garage in Amma, West Virginia. Trooper Turner contacted a man who was walking near the DOH garage. The man tried to run, but was caught shortly after. He was identified as Brian Thompson.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Thompson had broken into the DOH garage.

Man sentenced to prison for role in Counterfeit Currency Conspiracy

Thompson was also charged with the theft of the vehicle that had been previously reported as stolen from Shafer Equipment in Kanawha County. Thompson was taken to Central Regional Jail to await his arraignment. Kelly Lantz was also taken to Central Regional Jail to await her arraignment.
