Two candidate forums with the public invited are scheduled to be held next month at Monroe County Community College.

Several area candidates seeking office in the Nov. 8 election are expected to participate in the forums, set for 6 p.m. Oct. 19 and 20, in the dining hall of the Warrick Student Center (Building S) at MCCC, 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. Admission is free.

A list of candidates expected to participate in the forums has not yet been established. The forums will be hosted by MCCC, The Monroe News and Monroe Branch 3164, NAACP.

"This is a non-partisan, equal opportunity for candidates to present their thoughts and views on a variety of topics," Dr. Kojo A Quartey, MCCC president, said.

Each forum will last about an hour. Candidates will have a chance to share information about their platforms and thoughts on a variety of topics, as well as interact with constituents, Quartey said. General topics and questions will be provided to candidates in advance.

The forums are not debates, Dr. Quartey said. Each candidate will have two minutes for an introduction and two minutes to answer each question.

There are several candidates pursuing Monroe County seats in the Nov. 8 election. It has not been determined who will participate in the forum. Candidates include:
