Two charged in Manville weekend shooting

MANVILLE – A man and a woman have been arrested and charged in a weekend shooting here that left two people wounded, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.

Dewitt T. Gilmore IV, 32, of New Rochelle, New York, and Ainslee J. Clark, 28, of Middlesex Borough, were arrested Monday without incident in Hillsborough, the prosecutor said.

Gilmore was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

First-degree charges carry a minimum 10-year prison sentence.

Gilmore was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing in Superior Court.

Clark was charged with second-degree degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and fourth-degree obstruction. She was also lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

At about 5:02 a.m. Sunday, borough police responded to a 911 call reporting a man in the South Main Street area suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers found the man who said he had been shot while in a home on North Weiss Street. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police then went to the North Weiss Street home where they found a second man with a gunshot wound, the prosecutor said. That victim was also taken to the hospital.

Both victims are expected to survive their injuries, McDonald said.
