Two county board members resign

Dec. 16—The Vermilion County Board has two more vacancies.

Board member Shelley Mclain resigned her position, and board member Joel Bird attended this week's meeting and then resigned as of the end of the meeting.

Both of them had other work-related responsibilities, according to county board officials.

Vacancies were declared in both seats.

The board also had reappointments for the Vermilion County 911 Board of Ted Fisher, Charles Nesbitt and Becky Stark.

Other agenda items included an American Rescue Plan Act update, and budget amendments of $500 for the public defender department, $5,512 for the Regional Office of Education, $11,728 for the Emergency Management Agency and $24,000 for health insurance.

The board also had a $1.5 million county road maintenance resolution, and $17,500 Pilot Township assistance request out of the county bridge fund for replacement of crossroad culvert on 2350N Road. The township is providing the other half of the $35,000 cost.
