Two-day Disney World pass available to Florida residents for $159 amid slow summer

Walt Disney World is offering a deal on tickets for two parks over two days for Florida residents until September 29.

Floridians who want a Disney 2-Park Explorer Ticket, valid for admission to EPCOT and Disney's Animal Kingdom, can get the combo ticket for $159 plus tax. A water park and sports package can be included for an additional $35, which includes visits to the water park, golf course and miniature golf course.

Those taking part may only visit one park per day, but the tickets can be used nonconsecutively. Theme park reservations are required for guests ages 3 and up.

These tickets would allow guests to partake in EPCOT's International Food & Wine Festival, happening from July 27 to November 18.

Ticket holders must show proof of Florida residence at the park entrance. Tickets are non-transferrable and non-refundable, but an entirely unused ticket can be credited towards a new ticket with an equal or higher price if plans change.

A slow summer at Walt Disney World means shorter waits

Earlier this summer, the Wall Street Journal reported that fewer people have visited the Orlando-area resort this year than in previous years. In fact, Independence Day weekend was one of the slowest in nearly 10 years. Analysts say it could be due to rising ticket prices and changes in park operations.

But according to an analysis by Touring Plans, this means wait times for attractions are also down.

For example, the average wait on the Fourth of July at the Magic Kingdom park was down to 27 minutes this year compared to 47 minutes in 2019.

Florida also has had a record-breaking year for persistent heat and humidity, with central Florida as a hotspot, according to the Washington Post.
