Mother and son dead in apparent murder-suicide on Upper East Side, NYPD says

A man bludgeoned his mother and then jumped to his death on the Upper East Side Tuesday, police and sources said.

Police responding to a 10:24 a.m. 911 call found Douglas Solomon, 26, in the courtyard of a 20-story high-rise on E. 79th St. near Park Ave. with trauma to his body.

It’s believed he jumped to his death, police said.

As cops investigated the building, they then found Diane Gallagher, 65, dead in a 16th-floor apartment. She had suffered head trauma injuries, according to police.

Both Solomon and Gallagher were pronounced dead at the scene.

They both lived at the address, police said.
