Two dead in Ferguson gas station shooting

FERGUSON — Two people are dead after a shooting at a Ferguson gas station. A police officer shot the suspect, killing them. The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. at the QuikTrip on West Florissant Avenue.

According to St. Louis County Police, a Ferguson police officer leaving the QuikTrip heard gunshots near the gas pumps. Authorities reported that the officer witnessed a man firing at another man. The Ferguson officer then fired shots at the suspect. Following the shooting, one of the men collapsed onto West Florissant Avenue, while the other fell near the gas pumps. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that the two men involved knew each other and had arrived at the QuikTrip together in the same vehicle. A handgun was also recovered at the scene. The 37-year-old Ferguson officer, who has nine years of law enforcement experience, was not injured during the incident.

The St. Louis County Police’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
