Two dead after plane crashes in rural Cumberland County

UPPER DEERFIELD - The two men killed in a plane crash here Monday afternoon were Kristofer Noone, 24, of Pennsauken and John Noone III, 67, of Elmer, New Jersey State Police said on Tuesday.

The men were killed shortly before 2 p.m. Monday when their single-engine plane plummeted onto the empty front yard of a home at 44 Parvins Mill Road here. The plane had just taken off from a small, private airfield nearby.

The crash happened in a rural, farming area of Cumberland County but very close to the heavily traveled Landis Avenue (Route 56) and Woodruff Road intersection several miles from the city of Bridgeton, according to New Jersey State Police.

The only visible signs of the crash impact was a narrow, roughly 20-foot-long furrow in the grassy yard.

Sgt. Alejandro Goez said a resident called 911 about 1:49 p.m., immediately after the crash. The airplane was removed from the site Monday evening, after which traffic was allowed to resume on the road.

Goez said the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are working on the investigation. A NTSB official was present at the site.

Goez said that joint investigation includes finding the craft's flight plan and determining if any emergency calls were made.

Goez said the aircraft departed from Bucks Airport but its destination was not known.

A fire police officer said the crash also resulted in a large fuel spill.
