Two dead, three critical after ‘targeted attack’ at car wash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men are dead and three men are severely injured following a mass shooting at a car wash in Hickory Hill early Friday morning.

According to Memphis Police, at 12:05 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at Miracle-Perfection Hand Carwash and Detailing on Riverdale Road.

Officers say five men were found suffering from gunshot wounds and a vehicle was covered in bullet holes.

One was pronounced dead on the scene. MPD says he was 21-years-old. His identity has yet to be released.

The other four men were taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition where one later died. He has been identified as 20- year-old La’Marrius Johnson.

Johnson’s mother, Anesha Mosley, says she doesn’t know why her son was at the car wash that late at night.

“You took my firstborn son away from me. The first that ever showed me true, true, genuine love. Y’all took my baby away from me,” said Mosley. “We just want to know what happened. Why? Why did you take my son from us.”

Johnson was the father of a 2-year-old boy and a 2-week-old baby girl.

“They said he arrived alive. And we were just hoping that whatever it is he would be alive,” said Jesse Mosley II, his father.

Mosley says she saw him hours before the shooting and nothing was out of the ordinary.

“He gave me a hug and a kiss,” she said. “We did our handshake, and that was the last time I saw him.”

Two of the men left in the hospital are 20 years old and the other is 19.

MPD says the victims and suspects knew each other and that it was a targeted attack.

Police say they are working on condition updates for the other victims involved.

No reported arrests have been made at this time.
